Well, what can I say. Day 1 was certainly an experience.  It started very well when we were picked up in a luxury Mercedes sedan. The kids thought it was great as they could adjust the back seats and turn on seat warmers.

Plane was delayed flying out however, once we took off there were no more cares in the world as we were on our way to paradise.  Very safe 4.5 hr flight with a smooth landing at Nadi airport around 6.00am (5.00am AEDST).

It was from this point that we were clearly in Fiji and on Fiji time. There was no hurry or organisation when it came to the shuttle bus and in fact when we asked one of the people a question, he took off and next, we saw him in a car driving away - well he wasn't going to provide any help.

We arrived at the resort around 9.00am after sleeping on the bus - basically little to no sleep on the plane - all excited to check in and grab some breakfast.  After eating a yummy breakfast we attempted to get back into our room only to find that our door malfunctioned and 40 minutes later we had technicians removing the security lock.

Jacqui then had a sleep whilst myself and the kids had a swim in the pool before adjourning for lunch. Post lunch the lack of sleep kicked in so Jacqui and the kids returned to the room for more sleep whilst I went exploring the resort. It is truly beautiful and very easy to immediately feel relaxed and at ease.

Weather wise, it was beautiful up until around 3.30pm when the clouds and showers came through however by this stage we were all back in bed catching more sleep - it's hard work being on holidays.

After a couple more hours sleep we grabbed some dinner and cheacked out a couple of bars.

So we are looking forward to a great night sleep tonight, putting some of the minor dramas behind us from today and looking forward to exploring all that is beautiful about Fiji.
