Day 31 - Time to recharge the batteries

Picture
After such a big day the day before with all the shopping, racing down the Thames in a speedboat and watching the Thriller live show, today was spent taking time to relax, recover and recharge the batteries.

We were also offered a typical English summer day which started with some drizzle, moved into some light rain, and then culminated with heavy rain. Not the best weather to be sight seeing in. I am being a bit harsh however as the weather to date for not only the England part but the whole trip has been fantastic and we have been very lucky. We even spend days indoors at Lorne during an Australian summer due to persistent rain.

We are hoping however that the rain does clear as we are off to the cricket to spend a day at Lord's and hopefully we have clear skies. Well hopefully we do not experience much rain as the previous prediction was 100% chance of rain.

After a slow morning, we decided to go for a walk in the light rain and checkout more of the Battersea shops where Jacqui and Talia found new iPhone/iPod covers. These are Cath Kidston branded which is a cool brand in England. We then made our way to a small cafe called Tony's that serves your typical English breakfast. We were served by Tony himself who is a vibrant Greek man and was extremely charming. The kids ordered bacon, eggs and chips (as Tony had claimed to making the best chips in London), I had bacon, eggs and sausage and Jacqui had eggs, bacon and tomato on toast. It was fantastic and Jacqui rated it as the best breakfast to date.

After lunch we then headed to the post office to send a couple of special postcards, to Debenhams to buy 2 pieces of carry on luggage and then back home to repack suitcases in readiness for our trip to Paris on Friday.

So far we have been pretty good with the baggage limits as when we left New York across all 4 checked bags we were right on the limit. With limited purchases in the UK and only having carry on bags (apart from laptops and hand bags) for 2 of us, we still have enough allowance for 2 more carry on bags. This will then ensure that we meet our baggage limits and do not have to pay for excess baggage (well that's the theory).

So today, we are off to the cricket after again participating in an English breakfast at Tony's so are hoping for a rain free day, plenty of runs and wickets and a good time to be had by all. The only dilemma is who to barrack for as cheering for the Poms is like cheering for Collingwood or Geelong so there may be extra support for the Pakistan team today.
