Day 12 - Lights, Camera, Action
As we did not get to bed until around 1.00am, it was a bit hard to get up this morning however we managed to be up and heading off to Disney Hollywood Studios by 9.30am. The best way to describe Disney’s Hollywood Studios is to think of Movieworld on the Gold Coast – very similar. As per normal, the first thing was to check out the cool rides and 2 came to mind immediately: The Aerosmith Rock and Roller and the Twighlight Zone Tower of Terror. The Aerosmith Rock and Roller is the best roller coaster that we have ever been on. You take off at what feels like light speed into the dark and before you know it you are upside down going through a loop. As the majority of the ride is in either complete darkness or very low light, you never know which way you will be going or whether you will be upright or inverted. It was really cool and had you buzzing after wards. The Tower of Terror is akin to the Giant Drop at Dreamworld except that it simulates you being in an elevator that falls from the 13th floor to the ground floor as well as not just dropping once but going up and down 3 times. Again, this was a cool ride. We certainly made sure we hit both these rides on multiple occasions.
After checking out the stores and side shows, we attended the Lights, Motion, Action stunt show whish again was similar to Movie World except on Viagra. The cars had hotted up motorbike engines and there was plenty of car, motorbike and Jet Ski action as well as the obligatory car jumps. The cool thing was that they showed a couple of the tricks of the trade. For example, at one stage the lead car went over the jump in reverse. Now this was impressive until they showed inside the car and the driver was actually facing the rear of the car when driving. Basically, the rear window was the front screen and they had reversed all the internals in the car.
As it was Jacqui’s American birthday, we made reservations at a restaurant called the House of Blues. This is based on the original House of Blues where a lot of the Blues artists originated including the famous Blues Brothers Band. The food was from the deep south and extremely tasty. The variety of food consumed was crispy catfish fingers, Southern Creole Jambalaya and Creole chicken. For desert we shared a White Chocolate Banana Bread Pudding. This was the most magnificent food ever produced and tasted sublime.
After dinner we strolled around the Disney Downtown area which houses all the restaurants, bars, music halls and other merchandise related shops. It was quite peaceful and a great way to end the evening.
